Breaking the stigma
Nikki Tierney shares how her experience with addiction and recovery prompted her to be a counselor.
Nikki Tierney did not have the “typical” upbringing of a person who struggled with addiction. She came from a loving home and was always a stellar student and a star athlete. Her athletic and academic abilities landed her a full scholarship to high school and later to law school.
However, as a teen, Tierney began experimenting with alcohol and cocaine. By the time she graduated high school, she was arrested three times. In 2007, Tierney hit a breaking point and knew she had to find a way to turn her life around. Learn how she found the strength to succeed in her recovery and is now committed to breaking the stigma surrounding substance use disorder by listening to her transformative story.
